Dr. George A. Scheele
is a world-renowned physician, scientist, inventor and author, who has served distinguished careers in basic science, clinical medicine, nutrition and the biotechnology industry.
As a graduate of Princeton University and Johns Hopkins Medical School he served as Professors of Medicine on the faculties of The Rockefeller University, Yale University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School.
In the field of basic science, Dr. Scheele participated in seminal scientific studies that led to two Nobel Prizes, including the 1974 Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded to Drs. George Palade, Christian DeDuve and Albert Claude and the 1999 Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded to Gunter Blobel.
In the field of clinical science, Dr. Scheele made significant contributions in understanding the pathogenesis of Cystic Fibrosis as well as the pathogenesis of chronic degenerative diseases, including obesity and type 2 diabetes, that are associated with the Metabolic Syndrome.
As a world expert in human nutrition and metabolic disease he was the first research scientist to figure out how to separate all the proteins in the human body, now estimated at 20,000. Through invention of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis technology he discovered new concepts which explained how Essential Amino Acids correct for the deficiencies in positive-charged amino acids, proteins, and enzyme-driven metabolic pathways that restore normal body weight and metabolic health.
These discoveries impact heavily on an understanding of the Metabolic Syndrome which is associated with a number of chronic degenerative diseases, including overweight disorders; high levels of blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar; Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease; cancer(breast, prostate, colon, uterine); osteoarthritis; and kidney, liver and gallbladder disease.
Dr. Scheele has published more than 110 scientific papers and served as founding editor of the classic medical textbook, entitled The Pancreas, Biology, Pathobiology and Disease. His most recent book, entitled The Obesity Cure, explains how Power Amino Acids (essential, positive-charged and satiety amino acids) lead to weight control, metabolic health and aging health.
